Sustainability

m|devices is a proudly Australian and globally responsible business, that is committed to improving lives and protecting the planet.

Our sustainability commitment

m|devices is committed to being an environmentally responsible business and continues to build a roadmap toward meeting our ESG targets. The roadmap focuses on four key areas:

  1. Review all products (full life cycle) and business operations to understand their environmental impact.
  2. Embed an Environmental Management System (EMS) to ensure our everyday work practices align with our ESG objectives.
  3. Procurement and Sourcing Partnerships to encourage our suppliers to be more environmentally sustainable.
  4. Invest in Clean Energy and Sustainability Programs in partnership with Carbon Neutral Australia.

Environmental Stewardship

It's our aim to find the right balance between improving the health of people's lives through the delivery of medical devices and minimising our environmental impact.

We are committed to implementing environmentally responsible solutions to running our business and we are conscious that our partnerships with international suppliers means our actions must be both local and global.

We genuinely aspire to improve lives and protect the planet through our Environmental Stewardship program and welcome you to follow our journey.

Sustainability partnerships

Ecovadis

We are working with Ecovadis to help us measure our ESG performance. In 2024 we shared data across key sustainability indicators and are proud to announce that we have been awarded a Silver Medal rating on their scorecard, which puts us in the 94th percentile relative to other businesses in our  category.

Carbon Neutral Australia

We have also teamed-up with Carbon Neutral Australia, which is a certified Climate Active business, with the goal of reducing carbon intensity globally.

Our exciting projects are listed below...

Our Projects

Since starting this journey in 2023, m|devices has worked closely with Carbon Neutral Australia to identify the most relevant and impactful projects available to help us reduce our carbon footprint. The projects include:

  • 2024 - Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Reforestation in Western Australia
  • 2024 - AXIS Wind Farms in India
  • 2023 - Wind Farms in Verra Hebie Yuxian China

Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor,
Western Australia

This year m|devices has invested in Australia’s largest biodiverse reforestation, located in the Western Australian wheatbelt region.

Since 2008 Carbon Neutral has been planting mixed native trees and building an eco-system which will burn carbon and generate oxygen. So far more than 30 million mixed native species trees, plants and shrubs have been planted in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor, covering over 18,000 hectares of formerly arid and degraded land.

AXIS Wind Farms,
India

Through our investment into the AXIS wind farms in the Anantapur district in India, m|devices continue its focus on reducing the use of fossil fuels and replacing them with the renewable clean energy of wind power.

The project should displace 211,554 MWh/year of electricity from the generation-mix of power plants connected to the Indian grid, which is predominantly powered by thermal/fossil fuels.

The AXIS wind farms aim to replace approximately 1,981,830 tonnes of CO2-equivalent greenhouse gas emissions, annually.

Verra Hebei Yuxian,
China

Through our investment into the Verra Hebei Yuxian Project in China during 2023, we focused on reducing reliance on fossil fuels and replacing them with renewable clean energy.

Through this project, m|devices enabled the use of 33 wind turbines that create 112,170 MWhs of ‘green’ power, annually.

The project achieved net GHG emission reductions of 635,607 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.

This inaugural project marked an exciting start to m|devices environmental stewardship journey in 2023.
